HOW IT WORKS

If you need a Study VISA for Italy (e.g. non-EU students living abroad) you must follow the Procedures issued by the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research for Entry, Residency and Enrolment at Higher Education Institutions for Students Requiring VISAS for higher Education Courses in Italy (LINK) by submitting your pre-enrolment request through Universitaly Platform (www.universitaly.it).

1) HOW TO START?

To start the pre-enrolment application you must register on the Universitaly Platform (www.universitaly.it).

At the end of the admission procedure, if you are eligible, your pre-enrolment application will be validated on the Universitaly Platform.

2) YOU CAN START THE VISA APPLICATION TO THE RELEVANT DIPLOMATIC-CONSULAR MISSIONS

The procedure may vary depending on the provisions issued by the relevant diplomatic-consular Missions.

Check the deadlines for VISA APPLICATIONS.

A general deadline for Visa applying has been set on 30 November 2023, but it is a candidate’s responsibility to inquire about specific modalities and deadlines.

The final decision on the issue of a visa for study purposes is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the diplomatic/consular Mission.

The approval of a pre-enrolment request for a study course and the relative documentation produced by higher education institutions is to be considered a support for the evaluation procedures for study visas of the diplomatic Missions. It does not automatically imply the issue of the visa, as much as the diplomatic-consular Missions, in addition to verifying the possession of the requirements for the issue of a study/enrolment visa, are also obliged to assess the absence of the student's migration risk.

If the Embassy/Consulate accepts your request, it will issue an entry VISA for study purposes.

3) NOW YOU CAN COMPLETE THE ENROLMENT AT POLITECNICO DI BARI

• All the document you have uploaded in the Universitaly Platform for the evaluation

UPON YOUR ARRIVAL IN ITALY

Residence Permit

Non-EU citizens must apply for the stay permit within 8 working days from their arrival. You must forward a request for a residence permit for STUDY to the police headquarter (Questura) responsible for the city where you intend to establish your residence. Permesso di soggiorno (poliziadistato.it)

Tax Code

The Italian tax code (codice fiscale) is an alphanumeric code which allows Italian authorities to identify every individual. You will obtain it once you are in Italy - the tax code is issued by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate). The tax code is essential if you need to sign a contract in Italy, open a bank account, or access various public services (including health services). Your tax code is unique and will never expire.
